2019 Team Cork & Emmanuel College Cancer Awareness Game
Team Cork partnered with Emmanuel College to host the first annual Team Cork Cancer Awareness Lacrosse Game on April 6, 2019. The Emmanuel Lacrosse program is a special family that has been touched by cancer over the years. The primary purpose of the game was to raise cancer awareness among college athletes. In addition the official “Team Cork” jerseys for the game were put in a silent auction after the game to raise money for patient programs at the Dana-Farber cancer institute.
The game kicked off at 3:00 PM vs Hartwick College. Former Emmanuel Lacrosse players Jake Pickett and Joel Berger, both cancer survivors, took the field for the national anthem as honorary captains.
The Emmanuel Saints battled throughout the afternoon, eventually falling to Hartwick College 16-7. After the game, all of the players and their families returned to the Yawkey Center where a silent auction was held for all of the jerseys.
Thanks to the tremendous generosity of the alumni as well as the current players and their families, over $3,000 was raised during the silent auction for the Patient Programs at Dana Faber. Team Cork would like to thank Emmanuel College, Athletic Director Brendan McWilliams, and Coach Trevor Craven for their support in partnering with Team Cork. Team Cork looks forward making the Team Cork Cancer Awareness Game and annual event to raise cancer awareness among college athletes.
